From the Vault: Our First Cover

This is my first blog post! I'll be doing a little series where I will go through my catalogue of songs I've done and presenting some background about them here. For this post, I will be talking about my cover of "The House of God Forever" by Jon Foreman. I did this song with my wife, Taylor, but at the time this was recorded, we were still dating, and been dating for only about a year! This cover is so special to me because it was one of the first we did together. Also, Jon Foreman has had such an impact on my life as well as my musical artistry, through his solo work and also through his band, Switchfoot.

This cover embodies everything I love about playing music - beautiful melody and meaningful lyrics, sitting in a room together with only an acoustic guitar and microphone, the male and female voices complementing each other so well. I hope you enjoy listening to our attempt from 7 years ago at capturing the emotion and beauty of this song! We recorded it during Spring Break 2014, at a cabin in the Smoky Mountains we were staying at with Taylor's family.
